It is my greatest pleasure and honor to welcome you to High School Model United Nations (HSMUN) 2010. My name is Kyle, Tsung-Yu Tsai, currently a sophomore in National Taiwan University majoring in Materials Science with a minor in Economics. I was the Director of Academics of NTUMUN Society during the academic year of Fall ’09-Spring ’10. I am very passionate about debating on various issues, and I also enjoy tennis, good music, good books and exciting soccer matches.
I was introduced to Model United Nations exactly three years ago. In the summer break before the third year of senior high school, I participated in HSMUN 2007, which was the first high school MUN held by NTU. After I got into college, I decided to join NTUMUN because I was so fascinated and charmed by the lectures given by the seniors and the seniors themselves. Since then, I have served as a delegate, officer, co-chair, director and finally the secretary-general at conferences including HSMUN, Taipei MUN, Taiwan MUN, and Harvard WorldMUN.
Organizing a conference of this size might not be a difficult task, but organizing an excellent conference of this size for all the phenomenal delegates from all over the country is definitely not an easy one. The directors and officers have all devoted numerous hours treating this conference with utmost devotion and care. Since we believe that MUN is all about having all the delegates raising their own opinions in a comfortable environment, please come to any of us and especially me for help when you run into problems. It is our hope and duty to make the three days the most phenomenal time in your high school life.
It is my hope that after these three days, all of you, the delegates of HSMUN 2010, will leave with lots of new friends, a better understanding of how the world works and an unforgettable memory of this conference. Good luck!
HSMUN 2010
